THE HUB
A Space for Wellness, Performance, and Connection
Bringing Athletes & MUSICIANS
Together On Campus
The Hub also will play a key role in strengthening the sense of community and belonging among all students by offering new opportunities for them to come together outside of the classroom. Building community supports wellness. Countless studies show that a genuine sense of connection to other people helps reduce loneliness, anxiety, and depression, supports better physical health, and contributes to overall student success and life satisfaction.
Campaign Goal
$20M
The future of Lawrence University - expanding opportunities for health, wellness, and athletic excellence.
Hub Facilities
Built for Lawrentians
01
Practice & Training Center
With the addition of a 9,000 square foot fitness center (that’s about the size of two college basketball courts!) students will have expanded access to facilities that support their overall health and wellness goals.
02
Conservatory Practice Suite
The Conservatory practice suite features state-of-the-art Wenger practice modules. These acoustically insulated units allow students to simulate a variety of performance venues – from an intimate coffee house to a massive concert hall – allowing musicians to better hone their performances.
03
Conservatory Studio & Lounge
The 2,000 square foot Conservatory practice suite includes a student lounge and a recording studio that pairs perfectly with the post-production editing studio in the new West Campus building.
04
Fencing Training Room
The fencing team is competing and winning against many of the nation’s top competitors all while training in a renovated racquetball court. Dedicated training space that rivals their competition will give the team a clear advantage.
05
Batting Cages
More than just a place to face off against a pitching machine, these cutting-edge batting cages will help batters assess their stance and swing, track biometrics, such as hip and shoulder rotation, and provide data-driven feedback on how to adjust mechanics, timing, and power. They will also be popular with summer youth baseball camps hosted at LU.
06
Hockey Shooting Area
Ice time on practice rinks is at a premium in the Fox Cities. With low-maintenance synthetic ice, the hockey shooting area allows players to focus on shooting, stick-handling, puck control, and shooting accuracy, helping them perfect their skills without the struggle of finding ice time.
07
Simulator Bays
Three game simulation bays give students the opportunity to connect, relax, and have fun together. With more than 50 games to choose from, students can try a variety of virtual experiences from testing their skills on a virtual golf course to surviving a zombie apocalypse. The suite also offers options to host outside parties or events centered on simulation games.
